Haystack Mountain School of Crafts

These photographs were taken in the fall of 2008 at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine. I was able to spend several days on their wonderful campus and make art. Most of my time was spent doing poetry installation's but I was able to shoot of a couple rolls. My time spent there may in fact be my most memorable moment of this decade. Enjoy the images as I enjoyed taking them.

"Moon Over The Atlantic (1 Hour Exposure)" 2008

"Painting With Light" 2008

"Moon over the Atlantic"( my favorite of this series),has this ethereal feel to it. When I dream of meeting the Atlantic ocean I assume this vast blue space. This photo seduces me into believing that the ocean is in fact a warm and close friend.
"Painting with light" the contrast is rough edged and imaginative.

"Moss" reminds me of my early spring trip to the woods of Poland, it is sleepy and secret.

I can see we should open a school of art: The Garsteckski School for the Incurably Creative. Great work as always from a dear friend.

so i'm not going to get all intellectual on your ass..mainly cause i'm drunk..but these are different. THe forest shots that is. In a strange way mainstream. But at the same time very much not. THere is intimacy here. Enough to make you long for a living thing. But hesitation permeates every step. A city child seeing nature for the first. But he would have to continue. One more step to see around the cabin.
